Signature longer than 500 characters?

Signature longer than 500 characters?
I want to revamp my sig but it's longer than 500 characters.
This is because I have alot of URL's posted in the sig that don't show up in the actual signature itself, but still count towards the total character count.
Is the 500 character a limitation set by the admins or is it a physical limitation vbulletin itself?
It's not a major issue, but it would be cool if that limit were either raised or eliminated.
