Would you rather pay a monthly fee to be a member and have no ads on the site?

I'll bet the ads come from a service that the site owners have no control over.

Yep.

It's usually a script code that you put on your website and it spiders the content to figure out what niche the website is. Then it displays the car related ads that are paid by advertisers.

I disable ads so I don't see any. However if the ads are from google, you can blacklist advertisers to prevent their ads from showing.

I really don't mind if the Z ads are there. Why would it matter if they are there? Do you really get that upset over the car? It's pretty sophomoric to be make such a big deal about an advertisement of another car to support this website.

I say, if they are paying, keep it up!

the ads pop up based on what people type. If people here would GET OVER the damn Z (soooo many threads on it everywhere), then I think we'd see less of the ad; which I'm currently staring at.

Too bad we didn't have these ads back when the Crossfire was our favorite little target.

It only works with firefox AFAIK. Why? Is that somehow a problem?

I've taken to using Adblock plus, Flashblock and noscript.

Noscript goes a long way to stopping viral infections from bad advertisements.

actually. You cannot. The advertiser you work with controls what adverts come up on your page. If you work with Google, Google chooses all your adverts for you. It is in fact, a sophomoric argument to say "I'm sure the owners can change what adverts show up"

I hate those Shamwow commercials on TV, but you don't see me complaining to Comcast about them. I just put it on mute or change the channel.

What you have here, is a tempest in a teapot. Get firefox. Get Adblock plus, noscript, and flashblock, and empower yourself to never see another advertisement, not only on this website, but every other website on the net. You have the resources, and the desire to solve the problem yourself. Do it, don't wait for others to do it for you. We've been waiting 2008 years now for someone else to set **** straight for us and it never happens, so we need to do it ourselves.

I'm really not trying to trash you here, just stating my views on this.

One more thing. your avatar scares me.

I like how sure you are of yourself. However you're completely wrong about it. I've been using adsense since it's inception, and we've always been able to filter ads:

There is a person that lists how to turn of the ads in their sig. It is a line added to the hosts file that is in the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc directory.
Since this thread was started, I've been looking for it and haven't seen it.

At a quick glance at the html, you'll want to add:

ads.rx7club.com
ad.doubleclick.net
static.internetbrands.com
pagead2.googlesyndication.com
pxl.ibpxl.com

I'm guessing if you pay more than nissan did for that ad, you can have them use your ad instead... so it should be pretty easy.
