Search is NOT helpful
You know, this search function really needs some adjustment.
I put in: "Stage 1 dyno" and I get back that I need to use words with 3 letters or more. WTH  ? How are we supposed to search if simple queres don't work? Is there a fix?? Why does it have to (NOT!) work this way? Also this site is so slooooowwwww lately. What happened? |
Here this should help:D

I think you just happened onto one of those bad terms for searching. Usually using teh boolean modifiers works pretty good for anyting I've needed to find.
|
Unfortunately, the wildcard feature is still fundamentally broken - any query that includes a wildcard returns ZERO results. Try "stage and dyno" vs "stage and dyn*" for example.
IMHO this is even worse than the three-character restriction, because it precludes searching for variants on a word in a single query, as in rattl* to find all the threads on rattle, rattles, rattled and rattling. |
Thanks Jeff_pap31s!
You're the best search engine ever! :) |

Most of the time that I try to perform a search, I receive the message saying that I can only perform 1 search every 20 seconds.
What causes this? Is the search function not Linux friendly? |
How many searches do you do?
|
btw, the problem with the original search is that the engine takes each term individually (obviously) and "1" is not a three letter word (as is the minimum).

type Stage1 or CZStage1. without the space that should find you the threads.

downshift I think it's a normal function to limit people from overloading the server from frequent searches. Jeff_pap31s How many searches do you do? |
Originally posted by bowman I understand the purpose of that feature. What I am saying is that it has problems. I can sign on to the forum and I get that message for the very first search I try to perform. |
