classifieds subforum: CA local transactions
I know I, and a lot of other forum members from other parts of the country (the 90% not encompassed by Cali), get tired of seeing all the FS posts in the classifieds that read "local pickup in socal/norcal, because I dont want to fool with shipping this exhaust/bodykit/set of wheels". And if you actually click the threads in there at any given time, more often than not, 25% of them or more are this way. Yesterday alone I clicked 5 or 6 of them in a row, all with parts I was interested in. Seems like a lot of wasted space and effort to me. It seems like there must be 20 times as many rx8s in CA, as in the rest of the US or something.
Plus it is a teaser for the rest of us, to post desireable items and good deals on a nationwide internet forum and then refuse sales not local to you. Seems like craigslist, local printed classifieds, ebay, or the regional sections would be a better bet.
Anyway, I suggest a subforum in the classified section be set aside for "california local only transactions", so that the rest of us who have no ability to be a part of these deals, don't have to sift through them or get excited about a post only to find out the seller refuses to ship.
Or this could also be accomplished, to a lesser degree, through a classified subforum in the west regional section...though it would be more difficult to get the appropriate posters to go there and post, and the appropriate viewers to go there and view, since they are used to going to the main classifieds. This has been done with some success on 7club.
Now that I've got that off my chest...feel free to shoot down my idea, but please explain why you think it would not be a good and productive one.

You're still going to get people who monitor the forum and if they see something they like they will jump in and offer to pay for shipping but there will be less confusion.
And you're right that it seems like 90% of the local sales only are from Cali. I think it's due to a high number of aftermarket Japanese importers being located there.

Is our Communist little corner of the Country getting it's own subforum?!
I just wish people would put (local pick up, SoCal) in their THREAD TITLE! That would save a ton of wasted effort.
RR: next time you see something in SoCal, let me know. Maybe I can grab it for you locally and ship it out to you

Yeah, people have a hard enough time making a thread title that makes sense...much less requiring them to remember to put a certain tag or tag line in it too. YOu see a lot of FS threads titled "parting out rx-8", and then you go inside to see "clear corner markers, strut bar, ipod adaptor". They're not parting out a damn thing on their car, they're selling 3 non-stock parts. Parting out a car is, taking a car completely apart and selling the pieces.

fyi, this is still in the works- I need time to sit down and discuss with Omicron, Zoom44, and the mods from RX7 Club to make sure all regional sections match up before I start changing anything around.
