Chat Room per "section"?

Just a thought. maybe add a chat room in every section. like one for tuning, one for trouble shooting, one for tech garage, you get the point. just for some people who are working as they are on the site. I do that. i may be the only one but its just a suggestion.

Generally acceptable idea, though it may not get any traction as chat rooms have never lasted when implemented.

I've been on a couple of Internet Brand owned forums (like this one) and I haven't seen one that has a chat option.

I think that would be cool. Even if it might not be used all the time, It would be a nice tool to utilize

We once had an organized Friday night chats on AOL. It was a different group of people back then that spent a lot of time in the Lounge. They drifted away and the chat died.

It might not fit in with my time Zone but I would support it as it could be a laugh. Having lts of different ones might not get the numbers needed.

Ease if use will be a big thing ... If it is like a "sticky" thread, at the top of the sections, instead of having to go to a separate site, i think people would see it and might use it more. There is a possibility of abuse, but that is always a risk. How many owners are really that active? Im pretty active and I've left facebook so for me the chat would be fun and useful. There should be an indication to let you know how many people are in at any Given time. There is a site called "fubar" that has a pretty good chat room layout. it is a little excessive for what is needed here but, there are alot nice ideas and features that could be implemented.

why would you need a chat?
The answers given in the threads stay visible... a chat would only be a place for people to post useless one liners asking for help.

The IRC is easy to use but, it is disconnected from rx8club, which takes away from it usefulness.

Yea, any it doesn't do very well at notifying you when people join :P

But as RIWWP said they never really lasted here. I'm just stubborn so I never let it die. I usually am in the room while at work as somewhere to chat during my down time ( which is more than my up time), I just tend to get unlucky and miss people when they do join.

I would use a chat and would enjoy the shenanigans.

Also we have quite a few active members in our area and if we had a chat in the NE sub-forum I think it would be used frequently.

This. Imagine multiple chatrooms? Yeah, you'll get your answer no sooner than posting a thread about it or searching.

Id say it would be more useful for coordinating than problem solving.

Oh yeah it would be next too pointless for trouble shooting. Besides like someone already said, that information serves better in thread form as it will then be retained. I think it would be nice for connecting with local people or just general bs. Besides i can imagine all the miss information that would be spread if people were trouble shooting on there.

Whoa there bud, comin in guns blazin. Put those bad boys away. It was only a suggestion. The boots could use it for there one liner questions solved (if anyone felt they wante to answer) and maybe not have repeated threads because they don't like to search. Meaning less gummed up ****.

Also for the ones who are working on their car as they were on the forum. They had a question or ran into something they didn't expect and need help.

that and live work. i doubt it'll be boomin, but its quicker and could be of use.
