well, im still waiting for mazsport or ptp to release their kits but it looks like its gonna be a while. the plan was for them to release the kits and then buy just the piping because i already have a gt35R laying around. quite frankly im getting a little antsy and in light of all these custom projects popping up, im giving it more consideration about doing this on my own.

there are a lot of nice original setups out there but they all have the turbo up high, forward and in your face. id actually like to get the turbo mounted as low and as far back as possible, preferably hidden if anything cause this sucker is heavy (im looking to trade/upgrade this one for a twinscroll 35 or 32 version right now on some subaru and mitsubishi forums).

Ive poked around underneath the car looking for a place that will fit the turbo + piping but havent really found anything. You guys have any ideas for a good location? The way I see it, if im gonna spend the extra time, money and effort to do a custom job, I want it to be exactly how what im looking for.

 

I say put it in the glove box.

the greddy puts the turbo into a pretty tight spot. there didnt look like there was enouph room the last time i looked under there.

i got phase one done though. i made the custom single piece 3 inch exhaust with the canister out the center of the bumper. this beyatch is loud! another reason i need a turbo.

 

You got any pictures of that? Ive always wondered what exhaust out that rotor shape in the back would look like.

Im setting mine up in the front....

When you take out the battery and airbox you have alot of room.

 

yeah... it looks like for anything bigger then a "small" turbo, thats the easiest place to put it.

but turbos are sooo heavy!

 

there's plenty of room down there if you build a new motor mount.

 

i need to take a look down there to see what your are talking about but are you suggesting moving the motor up?

if thats the case, that would go defeat the purpose of keeping the turbo low and towards the center of the car.

isnt the axial flow unit like 12 lbs? i might just do that and put a valve in my exhaust so it isnt soo loud for normal driving.

 

If you have some fabrication skills you might see how much room you could gain from redesigning the passenger side motor mount. It takes up tons of space.

i know a big turbo can fit because i had to do it for the t70 cosmo swap in an 8

 

the really amazing thing in that first pic is there are two yellows in the same place! (I guess there are two in the second pic, too. But, you have to look in the reflection on his door)

 

STS has the lowest and by far, the furthest back.

Here s a picture of a reworked engine mount. The 3 inch inlet now runs right through the mount. The biggest turbo I could fit down there was a GT30.

so i take it you tried a 35r? it didnt look like there was enough room when i looked under there this weekend.

what kind of numbers did you see with a 30r. that might be more then enough for me.
