must feels nice to instantly double your horsepower, literally lol

i must confess i'm also intriuged by the power that is the LS2, but alas i cannot make financial logic for getting rid of the 8 and getting a GTO, so staying wankel i am for now

Glad you didn't make the mistake of getting another auto. Congrats, my brother's best friend Bucky has one of those, same exact color/interior/transmission.

Thanks guys/girls. I doubled my HP and more than doubled my TQ in one feral swoop!

Sorry, I didn't really give any specs on the car. Here yea go:
2006 Phantom Black Metallic
Red Interior
6 Speed Manual Transmission
400 Hp/ 400 lb-tq

The RX-8 was:
2004 Silver
Touring, 4 Speed Auto, Navi, Moon Roof, App Package.

This is my first manual car, but I felt right at home the second I got in it. I had the same grips about the exterior, but it really has grown on me. I think it has the perfect amount of attitude and style. The interior is a lot better than the Mazda as well. Didn't think GM could have such great build quality throughout the car. No creaks or rattles and the most comfortable ride I have ever been in.

Don't get me started on the engine and brute power because it is way too much fun. With the traction control on, the tires can go nuts at any time. Hitting that button is just plain scary.

Btw, it looks a lot better in person.

Haha funny you should mention that. I Chirpped the tires today for the first time with T/C on. Was behind an old lady, she was doing something like 25 in a 45 so I got on it a little when I changed lanes to pass her. I can only imagine what she can do with T/C off.

oh and btw, that grin you got on your face(yeah I can see it), it doesn't go away.

I don't like the seats. They remind me of lay-z-boy chairs.

But I like the car otherwise. But did you at least try a manual 8? You really don't know what you were missing until you try it since you were driving an auto 8.

How did it cost you?

The seats being like lay-z-boy chairs is a bad thing? They are a lot more comfortable than the mazda's and they hold you in place just as well.

I thought about getting a manual rx-8, but the resale value, reliability, and lack of power suck. Not to mention that Ford turns everything it touchs into crap one way or another.

I got GMS pricing and a lot of rebates. My payments are the same and I have already gotten more compliments in the GTO than I did in the Mazda.

All of these magazines and online reviews knock it for its looks and what not, but then everyone I have shown the car to and taken for a ride, love it!

I am also getting the same gas mileage (better if I don't floor it everywhere) without the oil consumption.

This may as well not be a GM product. Holden really did a hell of a job and the quality is like nothing out of Pontiac ever before. It feels and rides more like a CTS-V.

I love GTOs, aside from the somewhat bland looks. The build quality is excellent.

There's no replacement for displacement, as they say, and you'll love that engine. My father is the finance manager at a local Chevy dealer and he brought home an 06 Corvette with the LS6 and let me tell you, I never stopped smiling the entire time I was even in the car much less lettin 'her loose!

Oh and the MT 8s have more power than the ATs, not less. You got that a bit backwards.

2006 Corvettes have the same engine as my GTO. The LS2. The LS6 was used in the C5 Z06 Corvette. It is an LS1 with mods. LS2 = 6.0 litre and LS6 = 5.7 litre.

I know the Auto has less power than the MT, but I was stating that it is still a shitload less than my GTO. Any RX-8 lacks power to me unless you spend thousands upon thousands to juice it up.

Your steering wheel's upside down.

Nice car man, that's exactly the GTO I had my eye when I was looking for my 8. Only reason I didn't take it was insurance. It would have gone up from $1200 to $1800 per 6 months while the 8 actually maintained insurance at $1200. (It has since gone down though)

I was actually looking at those to get. It looks pretty good on some. I wanted to get a red color that matched the red on my brake calipers. Maybe Metallic Dark Red? Did you get the reflective color option or the liquid domed?

What Red color do you think would look best on the back?
