Sick car, but way to expensive. Ill stick with my GTO.

Maybe after all the dealer markups stop it will be better.

I'm wondering if dealer markups will ever go away given the low production # runs. This car challenges the Vette as far as value to the dollar goes.

I agree. I don't see why they would lower the price when there is always going to be someone willing to pay that amount for it. Hell if I hadn't put so much money into my car, I might be interested in it.

I don't care how much power it has. I'll take the lighter more nimble base C6 over that any day.

i really want to see what the public can do mod wise with this car. The supercharged 04 cobra was a beast in the hands of some modder's. Imagine what they'll do with this.

The GT500 only beats the vette in horsepower figures. Otherwise, the vette is much faster, lighter, and more agile. Also don't forget the E46 M3. Almost the same price and a much much better car.

Hey guys, just thought I would update this thread with some info I read on the Mustang forum I visit now. I guess Ford was extremely conservative with the tune on the s/c 5.4 in the GT500. A few tuners have dyno'd the GT500 at 421rwhp which is correct for the 500 fwhp claim. The interesting thing is they found out Ford puts no timing into the stock tune. These guys are advancing the timing along with a few other ECU tricks and getting 482rwhp without adding a single mod. They fabricated a simple CAI made from a tube with a 'slot style' MAF they had sitting around the stop and made 505rwhp!!!!

That's a nice gift from Ford for the GT500 owners.....just take your car to a tuner and get 60 extra hp at the wheels with no additional parts.......spend $400 on a CAI and get another 20 for a total of 80 extra hp at the wheels. For those that think the 5.4 mod engine sucks compared to a 6.0L LS2.......I would rethink that statement.

Man that sounds sick! Argh argh argh!

e46 M3 doesn't have a 5.4L V8, nor 500hp.

The Vette only has 2 seats and no trunk.

The tuner said while on the test drive they had to stop quickshifting the 1-2 shift because it throws the car sideways even with the TCS on

I guess the engine is not the limitation for GT500's....traction is.

Daaaamn. That car is laying down some power. It'd be a killer if it was even a tad lighter. But still... I sure as hell wouldn't say no if offered one... if I had the flow, I might even consider buying one. That thing sounds mean as hell!

I could see what you mean looking at the dyno run videos... that car is a beast!

One of the engineers here in my office just bought a GT500 for $65K.....Red w/ white stripes. He's been talking about getting one ever since the annoucement 3 years ago and he started saving up for it.

What an idiot......if he waited a year he'd have saved himself $15K on the same car. Why would anyone pay $65K for a Mustang with an MSRP of $50??

I'll pump $10K into mine for a total investment of $39K and have a car just as capable as his.......of course mine won't say Shelby on the back. Is that worth an extra $25K??? not to me

You mentioned the B2 (Boss 302) and NOT the B9 (Boss 429)....the B9 is on everybody's Mustang wish list. I would also add the '66 GT350 to my list.

Those are impressive numbers. But isn't the 5.4 you are referring to boosted? Not really a fair example to compare a boosted engine to an NA and compare hp results mod for mod.
