New To the Forum

Hello I am new to the Forum and just bought a 2004 RX-8 With out bose system.
I have some question's My RX-8 came with a 6disk in dash CD changer my question is how is everyone hooking there sounds up in there car's.
I know the stock deck cant be changed so how are people hooking up amps to the stock deck.

This is what i will be running.
2- 10inch JL audio w3V2
JL audio 500/1
JL audio 300/4
Boston 5-1/4 pros up front
Boston pros in the back.

The Stock deck seems to be a good deck wish it played MP3's but i will probly hook up a Ipod anyway.

Thanks

Use the Audio Control 6XS as the interface between your stock cd player and the amps. While it says it is a crossover, it is also a line driver, a level balancer and a subwoofer level controller all in one. You can still install a aftermarket head unit as well. To keep it simple, leave the factory headunit alone and modify the top panel above the radio display where the factory nav unit would sit. I am going to be doing one of these as soon as time allows so people on the forum can see that it can indeed be done.

That sounds pretty nice man... one of the biggest things you need to know is chassis ground (generally) sucks. some people will arguee with you against that but in general go ahead and plan on running the ground back to the battery just to be covered.

and I have a MP3 CD player in my stock unit.. you can get one here but you will have to take out your 6 disk and replace it with this. It's a very basic install and only takes about 30 mins.

Also the power system is kinda weak (even with a good capacitor) so plan on getting a yellow or red top battery to handle any extra load your going to be putting on it.

and for hooking up an ipod.. the easiest way is to get an Auxmod It will hook into the inside of the factory stereo (where the tape /md) would go and give you a 3.5mm stereo jack to plug into and listen to with the "Tape/MD" button on your stereo

There are alot of smart guys around here.. don't be scared to ask if you don't know or want some advice... "forbiden" seems to be one of the most technical and has alot of experience to go around.. and then there is me who has just done a big install and learned alot and there is a bunch more guys with a lot more experience than me so if you ever need help just ask! and good luck.. keep us posted with what you do and how it all goes!

Mr. Wigggles also deserves mention as he is also oozing with technical info.

Ok I looked at the Audio Control 6xs and it only has RCA inputs and the stock deck only has speaker wire outputs right or do they have rca's on the back of the deck.

Thanks

No the factory deck does not have rca outputs. To make this system work though is simple. The 6XS also acts as an advanced LOC, thus find the factory speaker wires for the front and rear, solder on rca ends, plug in the new rca cables to the 6XS and you are done.

OK I see how about the Audio Control LC6 Six Channel Line Output Converter.
Anyone use this is it better then the 6XS.
Also why cant the stock deck be replaced with a after market on i know that they don't make dash kits yet for the RX8 but i read on the forums that people have had dash kits built but they still had to relocate the stock deck why is that.

Thanks

there are replacement dash kits avalable... but you lose your ac/vent controls because all brains for that is inside the factory radio...

The LC6 is fine to use as well, purchase the optional bass remote to go along with it.
