How many times do you click your gascap?

I keep getting a small evap leak which throws the CEL. It is because it says my gascap is not tight enough. I give it 4 clicks, is that not enough?

I brought it in once. They said if I bring it in again it will cost me 50 dollars because it is my fault for not tightening it enough.

Six clicks - no particular reason why, but it's an old habit from my old Honda.

The number of clicks don't really matter, its just there to tell you its tight enough but not so in your case it seems.

Click, click. Not necessary to overtighten.

It clicks when you get to a certain pressure. More clicks than that and you're just making noise.

6 clicks to be sure.....these sensitive cars now-a-days.....you don't close the drivers door the right way the car will throw a cell...

I just spin in. Never payed attention to the clicks. As long as it clicks I know it's tight.

i've been getting this CEL for the last week (3 times already). i noticed that the gas cap comes off VERY easily - 1/4 turn and you can pull it off.

time for a new gas cap?

Actually you can get a lil bit more tigher (or more, depending on strength) if you press really hard down on the cap while you torque slowly. This will create more internal friction in the spaces before you crest over the 'click' threshold.

Try it, you can really feel your tightening it more so after what you thought you couldn't get it any tighter.
