Sydney SMS Group
Sydney SMS Group
Depending on interest, the idea is to set up some SMS groups for the Sydney area.
This is designed to faciltate getting members together for spontaneous cruises in their part of Sydney.
We still anticipate more long range web-organised Sydney based cruises being set up in the future (looks like Waldo has temporarily resigned - anyone interested in becoming the Sydney Cruise Director?).
However, spur of the moment stuff is harder with busy Sydney people. We're not on the net all the time and get-together opportunities pass most of us by. Hopefully, this will get more members together more often and stimulate more interest in other web-organised activities like mass cruises, etc.
The way it is envisaged to work is for regional groups to be set up (roughly, north, south, east and west). That way, if someone in the north group (say) decides he/she is going to give their local fave roads a workout, he/she can SMS the north group and anyone available and interested can join in. Of course, if a planned route is going to encompass the other regions, there's no reason why the SMS can't go out to all groups.
kunz has offered to set these up for us. If you're interested, please PM your mobile and suburb to him. If enough people participate we'll advise details of operation here.
All constructive suggestions welcome. This is still an early idea and we just wanted to see if there was any interest.

Up to kunz I guess.
Query whether Melbourne needs one though. Seems to be a tighter knit 8 community down there with more group participation. Something Sydney is yet to really achieve. Hopefully this will get us started.

Eric, no dramas if VIC's want to be part of the groups. Everyone interested can forward their numbers to me via PM.
Setup can be done easily, I'll start adding numbers as I get them.

My company is an SMS provider. We provide bulk SMS using an online interface for companies to send SMS to their customers/employees etc.

The only way this'll work is if enough people jump on board and give it a go.
So stop playing cool and send your mobile in. You know you want to.
