Hey... I'm getting a Mazda

I plan on getting a new 2006 Mazda Rx-8 and of course the 6-Speed manual in Velocity Red with red leather interior.

Right now I am driving a 2003 Honda Accord

I am selling my Accord and my parents are letting me to keep everything I sell my car for to put into the Rx-8.

Unfortunetly I don't feel my Accord had nearly enough power; however it was my first car so I probably didn't need it. Now though I get to compensate for having that slow car. For starters I plan on putting a good 9k into my car most of which I plan on putting into performance. I need to know the best to get, I also want to keep my car reliable though.

For starters I was thinking
Intake
Exhaust
Midpipe
Turbo
Pulleys
18" Konig Incident
Carbon Fiber Hood
Tires

All thoughts will be very appretive.

If you plan to put 9k in performance that would be cool I guess (if you want to void your warrant on your new car, and get minimal gains with that much money), but don't be mad at us when a stock srt-4, evo or sti blows right by you. So I guess you can ask yourself do you really want to buy a Rx8 strictly for power? Do a search in the aftermarket performance section and you will see why.

Poor guy, you are gonna get soooo flamed....I'm surprised no one has called you a ricer or noob.

Before posting you should have searched! You naughty, naughty boy!

If you have 9k to dump into the RX8 I would suggest going straight for the turbo and get an Interceptor-X. Use the left over money for tires, new clutch and flywheel.

There is not much to be gained from bigger pipes. In fact if you had done a little poking around you would have come across a a thread where Import Tuner published the results of these basic mods from a very well known vendor for the rotarty community.

As far as reliability goes, just get a good tune.

I would have researched it a bit but I didn't know where to start thus being the reason I am posting here. And I'm sure I might but that's part of starting out. I am just trying to find the best parts. The only part that I have figured out by look on this site is for a Greddy Exhaust. However I don't want another loud exhaust so I'll keep my resonator.

I think you will find all of the information you are seeking in the forums if you just bothered to search. Why don't you help yourself to it? It's all right here. And yes, those other cars will blow by you in a straight line. If you don't know what a 20B (or cosmo) swap is, I think you should do a lot more research on this car before buy it. If you want a car that's fast in a straight line, you probably aren't going to like this car (unless you do that 20B swap). To me, this car is more about elegance in performance as opposed to raw power which is seems to me is what you are seeking.

You will get minimal gain with the exhaust. FI in the 8 is still quirky although many have successfully tuned some high-powered 8s. You should start poring over the threads in the major horsepower upgrades section.

dont get the carbon fiber hood unless you like the look of it. it doesnt save any weight, in fact, it puts more weight on. i have a CF hood and i got it for the look of it. the stock hood is all aluminum so its very very light. ( somewhere around 15 pounds )

Put that 9k into a SFR turbo and then you will not have to worry about power. Then again, there goes your warranty.

once more this is not a drag car. It is more of a curb car "you can corner fast".

well yeah obviously I am doing it for looks. So wait with this car unless I get the 20b swap it's not going to be fast?
And I am goign to get a turbo for sure as for the swap I'm not so sure about that and yes I do realize this will void most of my warranty.

Keep the Accord. Mod the crap out of it so you can go fast in a straight line.

If your main goal is competing with your friends as to who can go faster in a straight line, don't get the 8. If you street race and want to brag about all your kills on the road, I pray to God you don't get the 8. You'll make 8 owners look bad and embarass yourself in this forum.

True.

If you really want straightline speed just buy a used 03 cobra and turbo or supercharge it.

Or how about the new GTO? Thats pretty damn fast.

Better yet, just buy any motorcycle on the market and beat your friends all day long.

That will work too, but for the 9 large he said he had to spend after selling the Accord he could spend half that and make a serious sleeper out of it.

No I live in Dallas, Tx. Also whatever I sell the car for I will have to put into it but I want to put some into looks and a lot into performance. and then save the rest for my tickets :-P. So the rx8 really wasn't made to go fast? I just handles well?

and my friend has a GTO it is nice but I'd rather get the 8. And what is the point of turboing the 8 then if you can't even really get it that fast?
