I guess in the states they call it the base model . I'm referring to the 8 that has MT but no leather or sunroof (in Canada they call it GS)

My question is , does the 8 base/GS come with xenon's ? and does anyone know of any other differences between base and GT ?? no matter how subtle . I read 2 reviews , one said base comes with traction control and another said its only an option available on the GT model .

The reason I ask is there's a base model 8 for sale (dirt cheap) and im thinking about snapping it up , however i dont want to be giving up too much by going base and not GT .

in the usa, the base model has the basic stuff lsd, bigger brakes.

the sport model which you refer to as the gs, adds xenons, traction and dynamic stability control. and fog lights.

RxGr8t... Where are you from? I noticed you referred to the Canadian model.

In Canada, the GT package is the model that comes with all the equipment swoope mentioned. I got the GT package and received TC, DSC, HID headlights, Fog Lights, Leather Interior.

Not sure about details for the GS model but I think you can scratch the DSC, HID headlights, Fog Lights and Leather.

 

The 6MT GS is the same as the US "sport"

The package for the sport as apposed to the base in 04 was the addition of the DSC, Xenon headlamps, fog lamps and was supposed to include the spare tire set up but my dealer clamed it was an option.

That is separate from the different transmission packages which gave the manual 6 engine ports instead of 4, dual oil coolers, larger front break discs, 18’ rims, carbon fiber wrapped drive shaft and a tourque-sensing lim-slip differential,
but you can get all this at the mazda.com site to build your own.

 

weird ..i just called the dealer and i've been told the GT comes equipped with DSC, HID, Fog, carbon fiber wrapped drive shaft, and DSC . You get everyhing but what i've just listed on the GS ...in Canada anyway .

Funny thing is they're trying to sell it for the same price as a GT lol .

 

I've got the gs. It has the LSD, C/F driveshaft, fog lights and bose stereo. It doesn't come with Traction control, Dynamic stability control, HID, Leather + heated seats and moonroof. I never drive the car in the winter cause the tail loves to hang out on any slippery surface. If you plan on driving in the snow then having DSC/TC is a lot safer. I have 2 cars so I don't miss it.
