low oil preasure no start dead at work

ok this is my first post out of simple need. i purchased my 8 in 10/10/03 and have been keeping up on this forum for months before that even. the reason i never posted is because of all the bashing, but my love for the car has brought me to this. my 8 wouldn't start after work this morning at 1 am after it was raining hard all day at first i thought is was a flood like many others have experianced, but as i looked closer the oil preasure meter on the low line. i checked the oil and the dipstick read 3/4 full. then i tried to start it again and all i got is some ticking sound. any help is much appreciated at this time for i am now at home with my friends honda on loan and i miss my 8 after just 6 hours.

ticking sound? maybe you are having a starter/relay issue?

Also, could bea low batt issue? did you leave your lights on?

Try push starting your car (if it's an MT?) in either case it may work

i have a mt and the batt seems strong. lights weren't left on. but what concerns me is that the oil level on the dipstick is different than the gauge.

That guage is not indicative of what is on your dip stick. One is oil pressure, one is oil level.. I am not sure when the oil pressure guage comes "on" but it may be showing low because you cant start your car.. not the other way around.

clicking when you turn your ignition is (to me) usually an indication of low battery or bad starter/relay....

You could try having a couple buddies push you with the ignition on, then pop the clutch..

Yep, i've started my car when I had clicky noises (i had a low battery.) If it is a starter you'll still need to get it to a dealer though.

Oil pressure does not build until the engine starts. It will always read no/low oil pressure until started.

As to your starting problem. Did the engine ever turn over at first, or just the clicking. If it turned over (cranked) but didn't start, then its flooded. If it just clicked, then its electrical and push starting it should do the trick.

If you push start it, remember to have the ignition key in the on position and in 2nd gear.

Lightbulb Lights....

Does sound like a dead battery, may be just a bad connection.

Turn the lights on, then try to start. If the lights go out, its electrical, (battery or bad connection) if they don't go out and starter just clicks, it's a starter issue.

Either way, a good push should do it.\
