Just a short video of me on track at the Georgia RX-8 Club track day we had at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway last month. We had a blast. This is shot from outside the car. You will have to download to your computer to view it.

Nice vid, looks like you had fun! Seemed like you guys had the track to yourself.

 

we did have it to ourself, and we had too much fun. 10 cars, from about 9 am to 5 pm. We rented it out, and got all the track time we could handle. I had time for one more session, but was mentally done, stupid things happened on my last session, the best sign it is time to quit.

yeah, a couple times that day, people said flames came out the tips, but that was the only one caught on film as far as I know.

 

Woah... 8 hours of track time! That would be awesome. How much did that cost if you dont mind?

8 hours... jeez your tires and brakes must be begging for mercy...

 

Well, we were not on track for 8 solid hours. There were only 3 cars allowed on the track at one time, and we had 20 minute sessions. There were no set groups, and you drove when there was an opening, which never really became a problem. A couple times I sat out a couple sessions to let the car cool off a bit. Because yeah, the tires were getting really hot, but the Azenis just turn to sticky glue when they get warm. As for the brakes, I never had an ounce of fade in them, thanks to the Hawk pads. They did well, but disc temperatures were well over 500 F.

As for cost, we got the track for 125 each. Not bad for a day of pure adrenaline.

Cool video. Looks like a lot of fun. The RX8's sounded really good passing by on the straight.

Alabama, at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway, a 1.36 mile road course type track. And it was awesome, I hope we can try to do it again this year.

I would agree with that. The ratio of track time to money spent, is incomparable to anything else I have done.
