Red Car - Fill in Middle part of hood with black. Cool or dumb?

Check the attached photo. I did a quick and somewhat sloppy photoshop. I want something to make my car a bit different than everyone else's... You know, a bit more than the usual 8.

Is this a cool idea, or just plain dumb?

I dont think it's ugly, but people will criticize you. Make sure you actually like it and aren't just doing something for the hell of it.

Mine's already like that. course my entire car is black so that's probably why

although i have to say, if you are just doing that, it seems out of place. if it was part of a larger paint design, then i might work, but you'd have to be careful doing that or your car will star in 4F4F

Not my style, but if you do go that route there are vinyl inserts for that area.

Let's see.
Hold on...

I have no idea as to the quality of the product. Just showing you it's out there.

I agree with this. If it was part of a larger paint design, I can understand, but alone I dont think it would do much.

I am not sure how I feel about it. It doesn't look bad......but then again, it doesn't look 'wow, that's nice'......it's almost like, 'what's the point.'

It vaguely reminds me of a shaker hood on a 'cuda.

But, it's not on a 'cuda and it isn't a shaker hood.

Still, I don't hate it.

You should cut it out, and insert a tinted Lexan. Then get a sweet painted engine cover.....

Overall it isn't bad, it would be somewhat unique...but not my style

You're definitely going to get criticized for anything you do when it's outside the norm. It's definitely interesting because of the two toned upholstery you have. I would agree with a few others and recommend only doing it if it was part of a bigger theme (i.e. - you painted other parts of the car too). It's your ride, though, and you gotta do what you think works.

It reminds me of the last generation Mustangs (early 2000's). I saw a handful of red ones with black on the hood in front of the scoop. I only ever saw it on the reds for some reason.

Another option would be to just do the one inch strip that goes down around the bubble.
