It sounds like a UFO. Is it me or did the engine fire up before you let go of the key?

Defenitely I have not had any starting problems so far but I must admit that this new starter sounds and cranks much better.

Does anyone know if the 2006 model is equiped with the "new" one or the original one?

Cheers

other than a flood, what else might get you the new starter. I have the common long start when the car is hot....maby 3-5 secs vs 1-2 when cold. I would like to get the new starter. I already upgraded to a better sealed battery.

Mine has always been hard to crank. I called my dealership about this, and they knew nothing.

Who makes that starter? It almost sounds like a diesel big rig starting up. I kinda like it.

mine randomly started up faster, sometimes slower. with the new starter, that still applies, but the start up time has been cut down by 1-2 seconds.

All new RX-8's have the new starter fitted on the production line. It's been this way for some time.
