So... I was looking at Google Maps and found an awesome route that appears very scenic and twisty on a map - maybe someone's driven it before and has some input? I'd like to make a road trip/day trip out of it in the coming weeks. Maybe pick a Saturday/Sunday when it's decently warm and leave Alpharetta 'ish nice and early and take the drive. Here's the route - and I'm including a map I printed and highlighted the loop on as well...

Start GA/400 North to Dahlonega
take Rte. 9/19 EAST, then NORTH
to Rte. 11/Turners Corner Rd. (State Rte. 129?) SOUTH
to Rte. 75 NORTH
to Unicoi Turnpike SOUTH
to Rte. 356 NORTH (Lovell-Wikie Scenic Hwy)
to Rte. 197 NORTH
to Burton Dam Rd. (NORTH)

... and now for the Lake Burton "loop"...

take Burton Dam Rd. SOUTH
take Bridge Creek Rd. NORTH/EAST towards Tiger
take Old GA 441/Main St to Clayton
in Clayton, take US 76 WEST
take Hwy. 192 SOUTH back to Rte. 197 SOUTH then reverse above

 

I may be interested in this Sunday, early morning before traffic builds!

Oh, right! I just talked to Travis at the hockey game last night and I might tag along to see the event... not to actually drive it, but to see... it might be fun. if othing else, maybe 2 weekends out from this one... once people have a chance to see their calendars, etc.

I did. But he was planning on only being there on Saturday.

I am always up for a mountain run, but the next couple weekends are booked. On the 4th we are going to try and do the dyno pulls, ont he 5th, I am going to go down to Cordele and run an autox event with teh Middle Georgia region wiht Lego and WRX boy. Then the end of February is the second Divisional for autox at South Georgia Motorsports Park, so February is done for me. Then it is RoadAtlanta time, a year full of track for me. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
