Garage door opener codes

I can't get the homelink system to accept the garage door opener codes from my Sears GD opener. Homelink indicator Light does not flash as indicated in the manual when the opener is activatred.

Anyone had any success?

Wink Homelink.......

*1 Make sure you hold it for long enough - 20-30 seconds.

*2 Mine did not like the key chain remote but took 'old clunky' OK.

*3 Try another button, #3 (seemed) to take it easier?

Yup - I have a Sears opener with the rolling code security, and have it working fine from the Homelink.

I just followed the manual, but from memory - hold the old remote opener button and the Homelink button down at the same time (remote about 2 inches away from the mirror) until the Homelink light changes flashing speed (it starts slow and then switches to fast flashes after 30 seconds or so - or else it starts fast and changes to slow, I don't recall which!). That trains the Homelink to be a rolling code remote - THEN you have to press the learn button on the opener itself, then run down the ladder and press and hold the Homelink button. That should synchronise the Homelink with your opener.

Regards,
Gordon

Doc and Gord

Thank you so much. Pressing remote 20 - 30 secs solved the problem.

Regards and thanks again.

Hey guys...

Will homelink work with the clunky old dip-switch type garage doors openers, the kind that are about 20 years old?

*Sigh*....

Too true. It seems the car I "traded" (to Performance Mazda in Orleans) already arrived and is being driven by mdmaclean... which begs the question "WHERE THE F--K IS MY CAR?"...

Anyway, anybody got an answer (a REAL answer) to my garage door question?

May I suggest that we try your garage door opener on my car to see if it works? Besides, having access to your garage may have some advantages!

Cool Clunky.....

Yes, surely, fer sher, absolutement, defo, and 'no problem'!

The homelink like the big old clunkmonsters. When the little keychain remotes have problems programming, the standard answer is use the big old clicker that came with the opener.
