The ordeal of Spyder_doo

Hey guys - so I have to post this because in hindsight, it's so funny and you simply can't make this stuff up!

Friday 6:00pm
Spyder_doo drives over to my house and parks his car in my slightly-slanted driveway. I offered to have him part in the garage - but Jamie thought it was just fine in my driveway. He put the (or so he claims) E-brake on, and put his 8 in gear. We drive off to the Thrashers vs. Blue Jackers game at Philips Arena...

10:15pm
We drive down back to my house. I was going to meet some friends at Wild Bill's so I was going to drop Jamie off and part ways. We pull up to my house, and both marvel that his car is missing from my driveway. Panic sets in as we both start to realize that we've got a major problem.

10:25pm
We drive around the block (in case someone was playing a very cruel joke) and realize the yellow 8 is GONE.

10:30pm
We get into my house and I call Cobb Police and try and figure out what just happened, report the car possibly stolen. I give the dispatch my address and immediately hear a chuckle from the other side with a "oh, you're the yellow car!" After an explanation of what has happened, the dispatch lady reveals to me that what had happened is that the car had rolled into the street and blocked traffic into the rest of my neighborhood, so they called a tow truck and took it away. We are told we need to show up at the Marietta Police dept (no idea where that is) and present proof of ownership so we can get a release form, then go to Marietta Wrecker service to pick up the car.

10:55pm
We show up at the Police station and everyone there gets the "Hey guys, it's the guy with the yellow car" laugh... har har har. Jamie wasn't laughing, and neither was I... I was clearly going to miss last call, dammit. We get the release and are told we'll need to go fetch the car... The catch is, the place closes in 1hr (midnight) and we need to come up with $80 cash (which jamie apparently doesn't have, haha).

11:15pm
We go to cash Jamie's paycheck so he can get his car back... it takes him 20 minutes and apparently he said something about 'signing my life away'...

11:50pm
We show up at Marietta Wrecker ... and pay the fee, Jamie goes back to get his car in the freezing (~27F) weather. After about 10 minutes I walk back to try and figure out what was going on. Apparently, when he went to start the car, the car 'freaked out' and the lights started flashing, and so he decided to pull his battery terminal and let the car reset.

12:15pm
Finally, Jamie got the car running, and we pull out of the wrecker yard and part ways... I think to say the least neither of us will ever forget that night - what an ordeal!

I hope everything's Ok with the e-brake... the car appeared in good order when we were there, aside from the 2" of FROST on 'er!

YIKES.

Aye, that's why I always leave my car in gear as well as using the ebrake. First car I had ended up in the middle of the street and the lawnmower guy came to tell me that my car was blocking the neighborhood. I got lucky that I was home that time, so now I always make sure to park with the car in gear as a backup.

Excellent story. Learning experience too! I used to never keep the car in gear, but with the 8, I always put it in 1st and pull the E-brake when I'm parking it.

LOL yeah that was some scary stuff man. I took it to the dealership and they said that the e-brake needed 'ajusting' and that second gear ( the same gear I put it in) was messed up yet again. Gees this transmission is just been a real problem. I asked them if they'd just get a totally new tranny but you know how the dealers can be.

Well Ralph I'm up for another Hockey game but no more parking outside anymore

LOL have I tuned it yet...well man the whole kits sitting in the garage. If I decide to trade the car in I'm going to sell everything off. If I end up keeping it, I have to wait until warrenty goes out before I put it back on. They dealer replaced my engine under warrenty because of a freakin 'o' ring. The turbo had nothing to do with the problem to beat everything. oh well if I keep her she'll hiss once again and with a few more goodies too

Hope yours is running smoothly and reliably. I didnt have too many problems out of it....most of them were dealer issues.

I WANT TO FLAME AGAIN!! So what kind of goodies do you speak of, no offence, but I like guine pigs. Here's the updated page (link at bottom) that has everything that I've done to my car. the pics will be updated next week sometime hopefully. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/918318/1

Well I'll tell you one thing that speedo picture will hit much higher than 150 with this kit on. I think the longest flame I've ever shot was when I ran race gas (100) at the track. It was a good 5 ft long. Umm what do you want to know as far goodies?

Oh and be sure not to let your friends drive your car....especially if he has a vw :D

doo - wow thats kinda funny, one of my friends drives a vw golf. and what I mean is what are your plans.

Apex - yeah she has changed quite a bit, and for the better. Thanks for the compliments! I'm not sure when I'll be back in ga cause the next half year or so is going to be rough. I'll be in florida all of january for a rage clearance (I'm going to miss me and my baby's 1st aniversary ) and I'm probibly getting deployed early spring time. *sigh*

I'm wanting to be able to keep Danna (my 8) and get another car but not sure what's going to happen right now. I'll keep everyone posted though
