Hi everyone.
First off, i'd like to wish everyone happy holidays, & thank you in advance for any and all advice i may receive...

As Christmas approaches, my parents have begun to ask me what i would be interested in for christmas. I have decided on two different ideas:

1. RB Sways, RP Supercat, & REVi Intake w/ duct.

2. Either Tein Flex Coilovers, or JIC FLT-A2's.

As you can see, the price of either tops out around $1500. I don't want to get 'flamed' for being a spoiled little kid (I am only 16), but which 'package' would I be better off getting? I drive the car how it is meant to be driven , but I am not one of those annoying little $hits darting in and out of traffic inappropriately. I track the car about once a month, but not not actually in any sort of organized competition (but under supervision, of course!). Again, thanks for the help, and happy holidays to all.

since u mentioned coilovers its not too far off the subject. if i were u id get the coilovers. i am a "cornering" guy and when u put new suspension on any car, it totally changes it into a whole new animal, stock suspension sucks on most cars (under 100k).

i suggest the tein flex, as that is the setup i am going with. if they r gonna spend 1500, u pitch in the other 400 and get the edfc, its so worth it! best of luck!

thanks a bunch! the 1500 is actually already with my chipping in (about as much as i can), but i will see what i can work out with my father. he says that when i am going to have something done to the car, he wants to make sure i have it done right, so maybe, just maybe, he'll listen. by the way, my dad drives the car about 15-20% of the time, so is he going to feel uncomfortable? he bought the car because of its handling and the fact that it is a sports car, but im worried that it may be a little too hardcore for him. i have seen various spring load ratings thrown around & how it is debatable as to how much that really matters in terms of the felt harshness, but im just not sure what to make of so many different opinions, not having had any experience with it myself.

ive decided on getting tein flex's for x-mas....with edfc if i can find the courage to drop another 330. i am not confident enough in my own mechanic skills to undertake the installation of such an integral part of the car, so where should I have it done? should I even MENTION it to my dealer (who I need to talk to anyway)?

 

good choice on going with coilovers... i think its an integral part of modifying ones car..and should be right up there on the list.. totally changes the feel of the car...

i would definelty not recommend the dealer they arent qualified in dealing with aftermarket parts.. and they might even get all fussy about the warranty issues.. just a headache you might not want to go through..

in anycase. find a reputable tuner shop in your area.. shouldnt charge more than $150 CAD whatever that is in US$...

 

Don't go to your dealer, they will throw a fit. I see you are in Savannah, any chance that after the Holidays you will be in Atlanta. There is a good shop in Marietta that does the work on all the cars in the Georgia RX-8 Club. The shop is Mazcare, and is owned by a guy named Charlie, (Marietta 8), great guy, knows rotaries inside and out.

Not sure about Savannah, I know there are shops down there that do that kind of stuff, but it has been about 5 years since I lived there. You might, and I hate to say it, ask the folks at the NOPI store there, they would probably be able to direct you to a qualified shop.

 

hey thanks. i talked to my dealer this mornin about a damaged underbrace that had to be replaced, & i decided to not talk to them about it....but do you think they will say anything, say, next time they rotate tires, & see that theres somethin a bit different under there? as far as i know, it doesnt void the warranty of anything other than those replaced parts (shocks, springs, mounts, etc), so they cant really do anything other than be cranky, right?

about the nopi store...
i have a couple 'friends' who drive accords n such, who use the nopi store, but i dont think i would EVER go over there...or even speak to them. ricaroni is not for me.......but thanks for the heads up.

so Marietta 8 owns Mazcare? thats cool. i think thats where i just might be headed, if i get the chance to go up there. i play soccer competitively, & i frequent the atlanta area. thanks a lot apex.

 

yeah, i hesistated to mention the NOPI store. I am not a fan of theirs, but it might have been a lead.

But if you are up this way, definately look up MAZCARE. great place, and they do a top notch job.
