Clutch slipping ... How can you tell?

Clutch slipping ... How can you tell?

What are the symptoms? Is there a test you can tell?

If the rpm's go up and the car doesn't pick up speed it is slipping. Usually it is the upper gears (4,5,6) that will slip before the lower gears, since it takes more torque to turn those gears.

put it in 3rd and let clutch out.. if it doesn't stall immediately it is slipping.

so putting it in third while stop should stall it

I would suggest not doing it too often though, or you will end up killing the clutch.
