Moving to Washington D.C. area.

My company is transferring me to the D.C. area and I am looking for a place to live. Just wondering if anyone has a room for rent or knows someone who is looking for a roommate. I will be moving somewhere between 9/15 and 10/1. I will be working downtown D.C., so I would like to find a place somewhat close to a metro if possible. Any help would be appreciated.

I was thinking of moving there too. Where about are you looking? My best friend lives in Bethesda and it's beautiful. However, his rent is $2200 a month. Good luck with the move!

Yes, Bethesda is very nice and very expensive! As for a spot in DC, well that depends. I'm sure you will find one but price in going to be high. I mean it is the Capital of the USA. :D Hope you find a spot for you 8 too because you park in the city and your going to have dents in scratches all over your baby. There are many city spots through-out MD and VA that are by the metro and take you straight into DC.

Heres a link of the Metro Map. http://www.wmata.com/metrorail/systemmap.cfm

I recommend Rockville/Gaithersburg/Germantown if you want to rent a place for temporary living :D

i'd recommend Arlington-
just over the bridge into Georgetown, or downtown DC and the mall area-depending on which bridge you use. Plus Arlington is near Rosenthal Arlington Mazda. Rent in downtown Arlington along metro line (depending on how big your place is) is around 1600 plus....

Thanks everyone for the information. I am a little worried about my car. I have a garage at the place I am currently living in Indiana. I most likely will not be able to afford a place around D.C. that has garage parking. The biggest problem is that I won't have a chance to look at places in the area before moving. I most likely will just get a place and then find out how it is when I get there. I was thinking to find somewhere to live temporary(about a month) and then when I get there I can find a more permenant place to live. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I don't know anyone in the area, so that would be cool to meet up sometime.

some of the apt complexes have individual garages available for an extra fee in addition to rent, make sure to ask about that when you call around

I found me a house to rent in Falls Church. The house doesn't have a garage but it does have a driveway, which will keep the car off the street. I figure I can buy a car cover. They are going to allow me to sign a short term lease, which is cool so that I can determine if I like the place or not. It's about a mile from a metro station and there is a bus stop right outside. What do you guys think about the Falls Church area?

which metro station? west falls church? east falls church?

overall falls church is a pretty good area, i lived in falls church for 3 years, and save for that sniper incident couple years ago, it's pretty safe i'd say :p
