Lightbulb SOUND CLIPS: Turbo+Exhaust+Cat+BOV

Here are several sound clips of
Greddy Turbo
Greddy SP2 Exhaust
Rotary Performance High Flow Catalytic Converter
APEXi Blow Off Valve

In Car Rev Clip 1 (cheap mic):
InCarRev.mp3 (223.7 kb)

In Car Rev Clip 2 (better mic):
InCarRev2.mp3 (250.6 kb)

External Rev Clip Engine Bay:
OutCarRevFront.mp3 (428 kb)

External Rev Clip Exhaust:
OutCarRevBack.mp3 (236.8 kb)

Spring Valley Tunnel Clip:
SVTunnel.mp3 (214.9 kb)

In the hopefully not so distant future... i want to mount a mic into the engine bay and record the car on a track day, HA!. This may also be included into another thread, "How I destroyed my motor". :p

Thats odd... they are recorded pretty low, but if you turn up the volume on your pc... they should sound fine.
Let me see if i can edit them and make them louder

I'm still very busy with getting the car cleared up. After getting the boost controller in and tuning done i'll put some video clips together.

i'll upgrade my ecu when a true stand-alone ecu comes out, which will be right around never (or a few years, whatever). I don't see the benefit in going from one piggy back ecu to another, and I also am not looking to make ~300 whp. I can barely race what i have now.

For some people it makes alot of sense for the X-EMS, but its just not for me.

yes thats me. There is a race shop near my house http://www.lgmotorsports.com and they did it all for very cheap. They also did an amazing job.

If you are interested in going with an APEXi BOV, you should call to get a price quote. It should be very, very inexpensive, and they will just need the stock one that comes with your BOV.

yes.

I would only recommend the Blitz DD BOV if you want a VERY LOUD blow-off valve. There are links on here to sound clips of the Blitz, and it really wasnt my cup of tea. If that is what you want, then it is the definetley great. The apexi one is adjustable between 3 sounds. I have mine on the "sharpest" one of the 3 at the moment.

yeah, the blitz is called the Blitz DD SUPER SOUND BLOWOFF VALVE. do you know of any that are louder? i think one of the greddy ones are pretty loud, its either the R or RS, cant remember... not too fluent with BOV's.

i know HKS makes excellent ones as well besides Blitz, Greddy, and A'pexi

Off the top of my head, i can not think of anything louder than the blitz.

Yes the HKS one is very good, and actually has a very distinct sound. Some say it sounds like a laser, but to me it feels more like a whistle. Eitherway its a really good BOV.

i am not too sure actually. i didnt really buy it for the sound.. its just a cool side benefit. After the first day i have been driving it on the same setting.
I imagine the volume is determined by the amount of air that is flowing through, and pitch is adjusted based on the size of the outlets. This being said, i think its only pitch that is adjusted... then again i really don't know.

This is what apexi's website says, "The unit features 3 point sound adjustment and a spring tension adjusting screw". HAHAH, thats it.

yeah, any product explanations from these japanese companies' websites aren't going to be the most descriptive ones around, haha. What WG do you run and what BOV's do you see most people around here run?

The greddy turbo comes with a wastegate. It works just fine.

Most people here seem to be running the Greddy BOVs. I don't know if its for convenience, or maybe they like the sound... i'm not too sure. Some local FC and FD owners steered me away from the Greddy BOVs because of the problems they ended up having. This is why I decided to go with APEXi.

Notice how this is a two person thread? HA! We probably should just take this to PM.

yeah haha, greddy's stuff is mass produced in china, its junk in comparison to an HKS, Blitz or A'pex product, especially their wastegates and BOV's. its not like i dont use any of thier products but id only put HKS or TiAL(very very good US brand) wastegates on my turbo systems.

is it the Greddy Type S you see around here most often?(S is the blue one)
