Forgive me if this has been asked before... but the RCA Aux-In does not seem to work. I just installed my Ice Link and when connected through the bottom of the iPod using the dension cable, all seems good. (While I dislike not being able to use the wheel on the iPod, the steering wheel controls are nice). When I disconnect the iPod from the Ice Link and hook it up using the headphone out going to the RCA In on the black box, I get no audio. Sometimes the display on the radio reads just "EX" and sometimes it reads "EX 2: 99 0:00" but no audio. I've also tried a portable CD player going to the RCA Aux In port just to verify it's not the headphone port on the iPod but still no luck.

Has anyone experienced this before? Thanks in advance... Hayden

I'm not sure that the RCA ports work on that unit...only icelink use...the box is simply the PIE box so you'll need a mbus to 2rca adaptor cable I believe

maybe matt at www.mazdaparts.com can help...he sells this stuff all the time

When I placed the order 3 months ago for the unit (it's been on backorder since and finally arrived this week) the guy on the phone from mp3yourcar said that it included an aux in. I guess I assumed that the RCA input would work without the mbus cable. This was the only reason I went with the Ice Link (instead of the P.I.E adapter from www.mazdaparts.com because I thought I would be able to use RCA inputs when the iPod was not connected without having to switch cables.

The RCA inputs on the neo unit are there for a reason. They must work in some form. You can set the firmware on the dension unit to IV which will allow you to control the ipod from the wheel (both steering and on the ipod). Just access the firmware options window (EX6) and set it.

 

Thanks kachud. I spoke with one of the tech support guys at Neo today about the RCA ports. He said he thought it was disabled on the Mazda adapter. He verified it on a Mazda 6 stereo they had in their lab. I'm expecting to hear back from them to verify but so far it doesn't look good.

I'm planning on getting the Avelectronics Nav switcher from Mazdaparts and was planning on using the IceLink RCA input instead of the PIE. I want to keep the steering wheel controls for the iPod. Anyony know of a solution to keep the steering wheel controls for the iPod and add the Nav screen kit at well? Thanks again...

 

I actually have a plan for this...but you'll need to take apart the pie/icelink setup to extract the audio...are you good with soldering :D...sorry I don't have time to help u much but I can help with the avelectronics install (if u haven't seen the DIY yet....just click on it in my sig...sorry for the shameless self-promotion...just thought it may help )

 

Oh yeah... I've read through your DIY. It's the only reason I decided to take on these project myself because of all the documentation. If I remember correctly (but please correct me if I'm wrong) I think you have your iPod going into one of the RCA inputs on the avelectronics box. I was hoping to use the steering wheel controls associated with the Ice Link in addition to the avelectronics. However, I'd rather have a working avelectronics system and lose the steering wheel controls for an RCA in port if it came down to chosing Ice Link or not.
But... Yeah, I'm good with a soldering iron. (my FM radio from shop class oh so many years ago still works!!) So is there a way to tap into the audio in part of the IceLink PIE adapter like the setup here http://www.whatsmyip.org/ipodrx8/?

 

I'd like to revive this thread again. Hayden, so were you able to use IceLink's RCA inputs? I spent 4 hours yesterday trying to figure out what's wrong
