Question Anybody in the SE seen a new red base 8 at their local dealer?

I'm trying to find a Velocity Red base model RX-8 somewhere in the North Florida/ South Georgia/ South Alabama area. The only one I've located so far is in Mobile. Anybody seen any at their local dealer? Thanks

Try searching inventory at mazdausa.com.

There are some in Miami.

Sorry, haven't seen any VR's (and I looked too). Buzz salesmen claim that they don't get but 1 or 2 and they sell out quick. Try checking Atlanta. I hear they have a few. I used mazda's site to do a dealer inventory search.

BTW, you in Panama City? I'm there for the summer.

Yes, I live in PCB on the east end. As for Buzz, the salesman that I have been communicating with is trying hard to get me to buy from him. So I'm going to see how bad he really wants to sell me a car that he doesn't even have :D . I like the 8, but I don't really care if I get one or not. I've found that having that attitude is the best way to get a good deal.

Been talking to Michael Morris. Actually I've kept the dealing on email. Salesmen always want to talk person to person so that they can feel you out. Email keeps it impersonal and, IMO, levels the field more.

Yeah, I took all the information that I got from this site and the Dark Side, went to edmunds.com to find out invoice then talked to the salesman that we delt with when my Dad got his mazdaspeed miata. He came back and gave us the bottom line and we liked it. Good luck on your hunt.

go to mazdas website, configure the red base 8 you want, enter your zip code and it will show dealers with the car you want (or close to it) in your area.

Go to MazdaUSA and use the inventory search. Centered on PCB there is a red base w/cargo net, changer, and wing at Prince Mazda in Valdosta, Ga.

You can expand your search by putting in different ZIP codes to get more than 150 miles from home. For example, a dealer here in TN has a base red with no options at all.

I would STRONGLY suggest getting at least a sports pack car - it adds the HID Xenon headlights, stability control, and the fog lamps. Well worth the $1,100 or so extra dealer cost to get. HID to light your way and DSC for safety - plus it will be easier to find AND net better resale numbers down the road. If $1,100 more is too much extra for you, then you are over-extending yourself anyway and maybe should wait until you can afford the car.

Thanks for the advice. I had already done the search on Mazda's website, but with only a 150 mile radius for the search it is kind of hard to make sure the zip codes you put in don't leave any dealerships out. Just thought I would double check with the folks here. As for the packages, I agree that the sport package is a good idea. Actually I am currently negotiating with a dealer to get a VR w/touring package car that he has two of on his lot. But, he has to come about 1500 off of invoice to make me happy. Thanks again for the help.

Edit: I just checked on the one in Valdosta. I guess I missed it before (had to put in Tallahassee zip) Thanks.

If you are still looking ....
Call Mazda customer service -- let them do the work for you.
1-800-222-5500
they will call you back the same or next day.
Just tell them where you are - how far you want them to look and what you are looking for..
Give them some options because of this recall thing going on.
I just got my Red RX8 GT on Tue.
