Problem with my nav system (static coming up on screen)

Ever since I got my new RX-8 I've noticed that my navigation system screen frequently shows a bunch of noise on the display (static lines..like the snow you see on a tv screen when you set it to an unavailable channel). It just happens out of nowhere at least once a day, and when the static comes on, it stays there for the rest of the drive - at which point I normally get annoyed and close the screen.

I just got my car back 2 days ago after they serviced it for this specific problem. They thought it was a faulty navigation screen so they put in a brand new one. I thought the problem was fixed because there wasn't any noise the entire day I got the car back. But sure enough, today the static was back again. Is this a normal problem for the navigation system or just mine?

Maybe they need to order a whole new nav unit itself? That'd be pretty nice if it were the case, because then I'd probably get upgarded to the latest nav firmware (since mine has the older 03 software that doesn't show any Mazda logo when you turn it on).

Anyone else ever experience static/noise while their navigation screen is operating? If I wasn't clear enough I'll take a pic tomorrow.

Hey - this sounds familiar to what was happening with my display...could it be heat, too?
