Are you noticing any more noise from these tires than your OEM's? And did you have Dunlops or Bridgestone OEM tires? Thanks.

i had the bridgestones from the factory. as to noise level, its definately less, as when i got the car, the tires were pretty shot (it only had 7k on it) and the two rear wheels were slightly bent, but as i didnt notice it when i test drove it (i didnt go fast or beat on it) by the time i got it home and had a chance to call about it, the dealership said i was SOL. they are pretty quiet, grip great, no complaints.

Cool, thanks. Some people have complained that the BFGs are noisey. I'm definitely considering then when I have to replace the Bridgestones next Spring.

Sorry about your wheels.

I have them in 245 all around and I think they're louder than the stock Bridgestones. That doesn't take away from their awesome grip. They're only loud when cruising, when pushing them they are hard to squeal. Perhaps the difference in tire sizing is causing more or less noise.

I replaced my OEM Bridgestones with the KDW-2s and called the supplier within 20 miles of having them mounted to request an exchange. This was due to excessive noise (a low pitched resonant hum) at about 40- 45 mph and a banshee wail at 83 mph. Was told to wait to break them in. At about 8500 miles I still hate the noise. Love the grip. I think they are as grippy in the wet as Bridgestones were in the dry. But I won't repurchase the BFGs. Highway cruising is not very pleasant. Supplier is off my list, too, though lots of other folks have had great things to say about TR.

they are great tires, especially in the wet. They can be noisey though, it's the price you pay for the great all around performance and response

Consider the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 -- have had them for the last 5,000 miles, been rotated recently, very low noise, and excellent grip. Do a Tire Rack search to get more info.

I was looking at getting these tires. Especially since they are about $50 cheaper per tire than all the others. I'm concerned about the noise and not so sure now. I drive on the highway 40 miles each way to work and the Bridgestones are almost dead and driving me crazy right now. They used to be much quieter. Has anyone else had noise issues with the KDW's?

Yeah, I'd like a more detailed description of the noise. Can it be heard over the radio at normal volume? Is it just at highway speeds or all the time? Any info you can give would be appreciated. Since we can't actually try the tires out first, but will have to live with whatever decision we make, we kind of have to go on the descriptons of those who've taken the plunge.

Thanks!

ok, i am using stock sizing for my tires, and my car is completely stock.
i took a little 80 something second recording using my iPaq pocket pc on a run straightline up to 130 mph then a coast down to 60 or so. i didnt beat on it too much, but hopefully itll give you some idea what these tires are like.

i had the windows and sunroof closed and the radio off. the beeps at the end of the clip are me trying to drive and stop recording at the same time.

please right click the below link and save target as.

Thanks for doing that, lurch519! Sounds like they rumble a bit, but I certainly didn't notice anything unusual in that recording.

I have the KDW's on TSW Thruxtons right now, close to 2k miles and have had no trouble at all. They do not sound any louder to me than the old bridgestones, and they are supposed to have better dry handling, better wet handling, and longer tread-life at $60 less per tire?!? Anyone needing new tires should def take the time to look at them. Love the tread pattern too

no, they are actually pretty good. like i said, no radio and windows closed, and its definately an acceptable level of noise at highway speeds.

the rumbling you heard may be the fact that i was holding the iPaq in my hand and had my hand resting on the shifter

I've got the KDW2s on all around and I love them. I am really impressed in their performance, and they are really hard to break loose. I haven't had any problems with noise, but I've got B&B muffler and midpipe (no cat) and that's so frickin noisy I wouldn't hear my tires if they were square!

Well, that about decides it. Those are going to be my next tires, provided they're still available by the time this winter rolls around. I hope they aren't discontinued for any reason.
