Smile Hello all - New RX8 Owner!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi before I logged off of work

I've been lurking on here as a guest for about a week and a half or so doing some reading... everything from the negative to the positive, from exhaust mods to getting your rotory symbol to light up... to checking oil levels and not turning the car off cold.

I just purchased a 2004 Winning Blue RX8 with the GT package, Appearance Package, as well as dealer installed cassette player and tinted windows. I got the 6-speed even though I've only driven stick once in my life.... but I love it. Stalled it 3 times coming home from picking it up Saturday 4/16 (drove 195 miles each way to get it), but since then I've been a lot better :D . After doing some reading it appears I got a pretty decent deal, and I wanted to thank Stevenson Mazda in Wilmington, NC for a great purchase experience after several other dealers fudged around with me (more on that in the Good Guy/Bad Guy section).

Positive: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?p=833287
Negative: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?p=833308

Anyway, some quick background... just moved to Charlotte, NC from NY about 2 weeks ago. I'm new here but have been around boards for about 7 years now. I'm a Mega Moderator (what you call a Super Moderator here) on Acurazine.com and have been on there for those 7 years. I still have my TL-S which is my baby, but it looks like the RX8 may have just become the princess. Put it this way... the RX-8 is in the garage... the TL is in the driveway (for now, third garage bay is full of boxes ). This site seems to have great information and I'm hoping to become an involved member as I get to know the car and the members on this forum.

Happy Motoring all

Welcome and congrats on your purchase. I have only been on the form for a couple of weeks but I have found if very informative and at times entertaining. It's a fun group.

Oh, I got buzzed on the way home. In second gear it beeped at me. LOL.... then I looked in the mirror and realized my wife (who was following me home) was a spec in the mirror... so I slowed down

Hello yourself. Welcome.

What's a cassette? Is it like an 8-track? Can you burn one like a CD?

LOL... it came with the car... so I took it. Didn't even know it had a cassette player until I went to get the car!! Figure it will come in handy if I decide to cheap out and play my iPod through the cassette deck :D
