Who is the youngest person here to buy an RX-8?

I've been getting a lot of crap from the people I know because I'm only 19 and can afford a car like the 8, but of course it's all good crap

So who here is the youngest person who actually bought their own RX-8? I'm talking about 100% out of your pocket, including insurance/gas/etc.

I'm just kind of curious because where I live, with few exceptions, young people just don't have nice cars.

I was 22 when I bought the car last summer, two months after I graduated from college and got a job. Everything is in my name and paid for by me.

Im 22, bought the car Friday, on a trade in from Mazdaspeed Protege, which was also completely paid for by me. I pay my insurance, and gas, and basically work to own my car, but its worth it =P

I was 15 when I bought my 8. I couldn't drive it yet but I paid the payments, insurance, gas and upkeep.

the title must be 100% in your name and finaced in your name people. This means no cosigner. So if you are going to answer the question be 100% honest or do not answer it at all.

i made my first payment on the future rx-8 when i was 9 after starting my paper route... ...it was part of mazda's "grow-up" plan..similar to gerber's... the idea being when you were finally 16 or older you'd have accumulated enough money to have a good chunk of the down-payment or all of it! i had about 18,000 saved up by age 17...and kept it until i bought my 8 in nov of 03. the interest accumulated another 4k. they stopped doing it..but honored the original contracts of the initial group of kids that were signed up (by their parents). so i guess i'm the youngest! in a way.. :D

i bought it entirely on my own at 22, not only is it only my name on the loan, the contract and the title, i also went against the advice of my family, friends and girlfriend when i bought it.

it was the best decision they have ever been wrong about.

i figure, someday im going to have a mortgage payment and kids and my girlfriend will be my wife, and then her opinion matters about buying sports cars, why not accomplish my goals today?

Well if you wanted to be really "honest", getting money from your parents to buy the car doesn't count either. Working for your parents for some absurd amount of money that is way above what any other person make in that job would fit into the same category.

Living at home I guess still "counts", but isn't particularly impressive. Hell, you could work at McDonald's and, if you lived at home, afford an RX-8 easily.

A 19 year old, living alone, paying all his own bills, and making his own living -- now that's impressive.

I thought you had to be at least 18 or 19 (forget which one) before you can sign a legal contract, without needing a (parent) cosigner.

So whoever said they were 15 or 17 or...you didn't get the 8 by yourself. I could be wrong about the legality, though.

The real question is... Who is the youngers person who bought RX8 and could afford it at the same time. By afford I mean RX8 payments are around 15% of gross income.

My payments are about 45% of my gross income. The rest of my income goes to gas and mods. :D

But it's not that bad, my parents pay insurance and I pay for everything else. They offered to pay for everything but I wouldn't feel right saying it's my car then :p

Oh yeah, I got mine when I turned 19.

The only difference between you and me is that my family wanted me to go get it. I was 25, had spent 6 years in the military, served in two conflicts. I was single, no mortgage and I knew that if I didn't do it when I did, I would never get to have a toy of the high quality that is the RX-8. So I got it, and now that i'm getting married, I don't have to dream about having the 8, because I do. Along with my Bike and ATV...LOL!

Oh and I can afford my 8 as well. I'm well below 15% of my gross, so there ya go. I'm not that young (25 can still be young i think, compared to some others) but I did everything right and I don't have to drive my 8 around with the fuel light on because I can't afford the gas for it.

bought the 8 when i was 23. I pay for everything, insurance, gas, car payments etc. It's fully in my name and NOBODY drives it but me

Oh and my family isn't rich, i don't work for my parents and they definitley do not pay for any of my expenses. Also this car cost is less then 15% of my annual income and I put no money down and I am financing the car.

yes, i have been very fortunate in the job I got after university but I worked my *** off to get where I am today. . .
