Running at the track without AC and PS connected
Running at the track without AC and PS connected
Anyone ever try this? I recently did this conversion on my miata (still have the power rack) and it's a big improvement. The bottom end is stronger and steering actually feels more connected to the road. Almost no difference at 10 mph+
You should be able to just slip the belt right off, or does it also run the alternator?

Holy crap, Batman!
I would think the car would still be steerable, but heavy, and knock the hell out of your times. May even throw a CEL, they consider the steering to be 'important'.
The a/c is another matter, it will run whenever it feels like, and could possibly slow you a bit. There is a simple remedy: pull the fuse that controls the a/c clutch only. (front of fuse box, 10amp, marked 'a/c clutch') This lets the system think it is still running the compressor and dehumidifying etc. when it is completely disconnected.
