Go look for it on ebay. You can find actually decent stuff with good prices! Also do you mean 400-500 bucks on the subs or the entire system because 400-500 for subs, you could actually get some pretty decent stuff!

I built my own box with inexpensive Alpine stuff under $400... it doesn't hit like a show car, but it sounds great to me. Plans and details are here:

You can get a nice audiobahn or MA audio amp off ebay for around $150 depending on desired watts, then depending on if you want a one or two sub setup you can find nice ones on there for good prices. I recommend building your own box though. They will either charge you alot for one or it'll cost alot to ship it.

A nice setup my friend has is these subs: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...761010279&rd=1

and this amp: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...760928696&rd=1

This setup with you building your own box will run you $367ish. They sound good, and are under warrenty too.

Ebay and Flea market for higher end stuff. I have a friend that does my install work because he's an installer for Mobile One. I got a Polk/Momo 8" sub from sounddomain that is enroute.
