weird how ppl ask for help, then add on a '***-sounding' tag line like:

this might be a repost, but I don't care.

thats right... I am tired of the repost police hunting me down, and being the first to announce that they have seen this before.

Speaking of the rims. 7.5 does seem somewhat short, but for that weight/price its very tempting nonetheless. Will the offset fit on our cars?

i did not even think they came in 19s. Most of there rims are only 17s and now they have a few 18s. I did see one model that was 19/20s, but i wasnt a huge fan of the 25 spoke look on an rx8.

And the reasoning for that is?

Stock tires are 225/45-18 which would be fine on a 7.0" through 8.5" wide wheel.

(See wheel width: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...=Potenza+RE040 )

There's no special reason that they 'have to' be 8" or higher.

The thing I would question is the offset on the wheels since stock is ~50... if you're going to a 'thinner' wheel, would not the offset need to INCREASE to center the wheel over the hub? A 42 offset pushes the wheel out towards the fender of the car, putting more stress on the hubs/bearings.

What I don't know is what's the acceptable offset range for the 8. For example, Subarus. Offset is also around 52mm. People were getting 42 offset wheels and blowing out their bearings in about 8-10K miles since there was too much load/weight to the outside of the designed specification of 52mm. Depending on wheel width, offset must be taken into consideration on modern cars where tolerances are much tighter. If you necrease wheel width, you should be decreasing the offset, and vice versa. (Again... Stock WRX wheel is 16 x 6.5. Going from a 16 x 6.5 to 17 x 7.5, the offset would go from 52 to 48 to keep the wheel centered. Going to a thinner wheel, you'd go from 52 up to around 55.)

Just something to keep in mind.

I know there'll be people that will chime in saying "I own these wheels and they're fine" or some such... so I really don't know how strong the 8 hubs/bearings are. Just asking here and throwing out another data point.

Thanks for the info IMP, that is good advice...

I just noticed that the wheels in the pics are 4 lugs... I hope they make them in 5 as well.

I hate to bump my own thread, but...

IMP or anyone, can you explain to me what the offset on a wheel refers to?

Thanks for the link man...

Maybe im missing something here. If the offset on the stock is 50, and this wheel is 42. Wouldn't that bring the wheel further in, and away from the fender. This seems to be balanced because of the narrower wheel (7.5" Depth).
