SR Motorsports RX8 in April Sport Compact Car

Sport compact car has a write up in the April issue on the SR Motorsports RX8 with all their goodies installed. They don't independently test the car, so they basically just claim SR's 37whp increase with all their bolt on parts. Overall its a positive writeup, you can tell the SCC guys like the 8, wish we could get more tuner reviews.

I read the article as well. Overall a good write up. I was aware SR had that much knowledge of rotaries.

It was in the magazine section at the local supermarket. Read it on Saturday.

Modified Mag covers rotary almost every issue. RX-8s have appeared in their mag a lot more than most tuner mags out there.

Read the article last night. It's very positive, but what sticks to my mind is the claim of 18whp from the power pulleys alone. 18whp from power pulleys? I'd like to see SCC actually verify that number on their own dyno.

I keep hearing from posters here that the power gains claimed by SR regarding those underdrive pulleys are way off- disappointing because I'm thinking of getting their GT-3 kit.

Are you reading the same posts I am? Who's claiming the power gains are "way off"? ...anyway, they seem a bit high, but considering the fact that only SR has run a dyno for their 8, no one really knows for sure - but when you people find out, let me know

I did a dyno on my car when I installed an Rotary Extreme intake, SR Motorsports pullies, & SR Motorsports hi-flow cat (w/ resonator). I got +5 whp at the peak, and about +10 whp in the rev range. Their claims are 12 or 18 whp is total BS. Their claims of 25-30 hp for their GT3 package are total BS. You show me any RX8 that is getting +30 hp from this package (air intake, pullies, & hi-flow cat) & I will give you $500 (although if it doesn't work out you give me $500 :D . Air intake is about 2-3 hp (and their unit was ripped on by Chuck Huang of Rotary Extreme), hi-flow cat is about 4-6 hp, and pullies are about 2-3 hp. I have the dyno up in a thread.

If you want to use $1200 to get the best gain for your RX8 you are better off getting the Canzoomer unit, tuning it for your car, & getting the hi-flow cat.

How many people would buy UR or SR pullies if they said they were going to chanrge $300-$400 & the real hp gains was 2 hp ? Probably not many.

That's why you put a 1 in front of the number.

And if you ever get sued for false advertising, they can claim a typo error among other things.
