Rebalance and Align?
Rebalance and Align?
I decided to get productive this past weekend and painted the rusting area on my rotors with a high temp silver paint. The rotors look great now, since the rust had been so visible through the factory rims. I had both the front and back on each side raised at the same time, so I decided to rotate the Bridgestones front to back before I set it back down. With 11.5k miles on them, the front tires seem to be a little more worn than the rears, but all in all, it looks like I can get another 15k out of these tires before I need a replacement.
My question is- Should I have the tires balanced and the alignment checked simply because I rotated the tires? I didn't notice any abnormal wear patterns on the tires, and I haven't noticed any pulling or drifting or chattering at speed since the rotation.
Interestingly enough, while rolling the tires front to back, I saw a nail head in tread of one of my front tires (not losing pressure, though). Since it was Sunday I could only find two tire shops open, and both refused to work on the tire (18" and TPMS were the reasons). The next day I phoned three more, and still couldn't find anyone willing to work on the tire. So I stopped at the dealer on the way home. He put it up on the rack and pulled the offender out (it had basically made a right turn after getting through the outer tread and didn't puncture the tire). Funny thing is, I told him I had rotated the tires the day before, and he said nothing about rebalancing and alignment. Any thoughts?
