Lowest safe temp for Potenzas?
Lowest safe temp for Potenzas?
Hello -
What's the lowest ambient temp. at which the stock Potenzas are safe? I thought I read somewhere that they're OK above 30 F. Anybody know?

I drove them all all winter in the Northeast on DRY, SNOWLESS, ICELESS payment only. Read: I drove the 8 on nice clear days - any temp from -10 to whatever. They were maybe cold and a little hard, but no problem I found for normal driving, but I wasn't doing any crazy stuff.
Get something else if you need daily driving, no matter the weather.

It was 37 degrees here this morning when I was driving into work. I noticed that my Dunlops were looser on the road than normal. Also, breaking distance was greatly increased. The car wasn't dangerous to drive, it just required some additional control.
i've driven my Potenza's in 20 degree weather... sure there is a bit less grip (that applies to all tires trying to grip cold roads) but as long as there is no snow/ice and you aren't driving like a complete idiot there is no problem.
