sold my o4-just picked up my 05-8

Just drove home my new (White) 05- I had put some serious miles on my 04/8 (36K)-it was running great, (Greddy/KN intake), but had a good offer. Went from blue to white- Can not say all that much at this point- appears to be a little stronger- in the low end (not so noisy) yet-Keep you posted

How is it stronger and have more low end if the specs are identical to the 04 ???

The only noticeable difference is the Key.

IMO ... the blue looks more sharp then the white. To each there own. Enjoy!

Assuming they had the same options, how much did they give for your 04? I like the white and at least its an 05 color.

There's always stronger engines coming out the factory. I'm pretty sure there's 190rwhp rx-8 out of the factory and I'm also pretty sure that you'll find some with 179rwhp...

I would have stayed with the 04 but that certainly was some serious miles on an 04. Cars are like computers and TVs. Seems every year and sometimes every month someone comes out with an upgraded or newer model. I am happy with my 04 although its new and only a week old. Waiting for a dry day in Colorado to take it out for a spin. Don't like the fact the car has carpet in the rear wheel wells but I still like the car and its looks as well as the way it drives.

Not real sure about why it is quicker- both where 6 spds, seems 2nd gear has more grunt and wants to be held a little longer, my sales person said there was computer mods,in addition to upgrade Nav , minor suspesion tuneing, Green (environmentally friendly -no sodium azide based -airbag inflators, footwell lights, slightly different brake pads composite (low dusting) new hinge set-up rear windows, all small, but it adds up.

It's identical in specs on the Mazda USA website... except the color. Maybe the white paint makes it faster? :P They prolly gave Frank about 20k-22k trade towards a new one.

He had an aftermarket intake. I beleive those are reputed to hurt the low end for a marginal gain above 7000rpm.

Where did you make the trade (dealership in Los Angeles)? Especially to give you a good deal on a 2005 when I believe there are some 04s on dealership lots.

BTW, congrats on the trade. :D

Very cool!

Although I wouldn't trade mine, what are the changes on the hinges of the back windows? Do they open more or just aesthetics??

Spoiler for '05 White RX8

I ordered a spoiler for my white car and Mazda told me they haven't made them yet. They have had my money for ~ 2 weeks and just told me this story. Anybody out there seen a '05 RX8 white spoiler? The dealer said they would send me a check or wait a few months and they'll get me one.

I am not sure the difference in power is related to 04 and 05 models necessarily. We all have different hp vehicles. Some rx8s are simply faster then others, so likely the difference does exist, but more so because his 04 rx8 just wasn't producing what it should.
