I like the avoidance of the obvious trade in price question. Maybe it wasn't such a good deal after all.

I doubt it as a very good deal. But, it is more important too be happy with your car, than live with something you don't want and save a few thousand $$. As long as he didn't sell a kidney or something to make up the difference who cares.

This is a lot more stuff that is published on most web sites. What is different with the hinge setup on the rear windows? How is the suspension tuned differently? Softer - or harder for less body roll? Are the new brake pads more effective?

Re: Shortage of white accessories?

I placed my order for a '05 white RX8 in mid-August (6MT, GT pge, appearance pkg, rotary accent and spoiler). The vehicle invoice indicated that the vehicle was already at the distribution port (25 miles from dealership) and it was scheduled for a mid-Sept delivery. Mid-Sept came and went. Dealer told me that due to the trucking out of the '04s from the port my vehicle wouldn't be delivered until the 4th week of Sept. I offered to take my salesman to the distribution port to pick up the car, wouldn't go for that. This past Wednesday I stopped by the dealership to get an update on the whereabouts of the car. After placing a few phone calls, the dealarship told me that there is apparently a "shortage" of white accessory parts for the GT/Appearance packages and Mazda allegedly has no idea when these parts will be to the distribution port to fulfill the accessroy upgrades on the '05 white vehicles. The dealer was told that the parts were supposedly on a boat from Japan making its way to the US. In the meantime, I am told that that the vehicle cannot be released from the distribution port until the vehicle's order can be completed in full. Mazda introduces an new color to its vehicle line for '05; then overlooks having enough color-matched GT/Appearance package accessories for its introduction. In the long run, I suppose its worth the wait?

Hang in there. I was in the 1st pre-order group, and had to wait 6+ months after order. Ours were also delayed at port for various other reasons.

It'll be worth the wait. A boat takes ~ 1 month to reach port, so depending on when it left Japan.......

I stuck a for sale sign on it- parked it at Hunnington Beach-surfed till about 4pm-came back to 2 offers, took the highest, (the only difficulty was, they wanted the car before I had a chance to obtain another one). I think I did well, not much out of pockect, and I was not willing to not willing to deal that much, as I really did not care if I sold it or not. I think you always do better if you can sell it yourself, and with the 8's, nobody has to trade, despite all the negative comments I have read about them on this forum, there are lots of folks who like them-kept in good condition-no one will have a problem selling an 8.
