LOL English.

I was led to believe that the 4 door Rx-8 could never be made into a convertible, because it was have no stiffness in the chassis.

But it looks darn perty anyway

And the line of the trim "jaggs" toward the back seat (clone tool misalignment, probably).

However, I wouldn't have spent that much time on an rx-8, so I give him props even if it isn't perfect. It's a good mock-up / dream .

Oh, whoever said something about the '8 not being stiff enough for a convertible, the chassis had to be VERY strong to not have the B pillar. Supposedly, the next version of the miata (a convertible) will use the RX-8 chassis...

Ooh, I want one. I think we would say goodbye to the trunk, but with the big back seats, who needs it anyway?

What I thought might also look cool is if the 8 had a targa top similar to the supras.

I think the 8 has already enough stiffness, mazda can easily make it a convertible, not sure though...

And if, in my opinion, they do make it topless, it must be a 2-seater...

Very cool pic - I'd buy that car!

But one small detail: the backseat headrests are not exactly rotary.

with the high backbone tunnel in our cars, mazda can make it into pretty much anything without having to worry about chassis stiffness

Looks cool, except for when a top has to go on it. I'm imagining the many shapes of a soft-top RX-8 right now and it's quite disturbing.

not sure if it's been said before, but the latest autoweek says that there are no changes for the 2005 rx-8, but in 2006 there will be a coupe and convertable available. They didn't say 'maybe' or 'possible', they sounded pretty sure it would be happening.
