I think you answered your own question. I don't think anyone should have a problem if you can remove the controller before the event. You were quoting Street Prepared rules when you would be much more competitive running in STU unless you want to put 'R' compund tires on.

 

If you don't already race and/or don't plan on racing seriously I wouldn't worry about it at all.
