Question Number stickers for track use

Can anyone point me to places where I can find those number stickers that you put onto the body of your car. I'm getting sick of the messy shoe polish! If I intend to go to track events regularly, I think its worth the little extra money to do it the right way.

I know there are variety of materials to choose from, magnetic, vinyl ...... etc. Again, since I'll use that mostly for track events, so it needs to withstand highspeed and be reuseable as well. Speaking of reuseable, I wonder how many track events can they last in general?

TIA,
Pete

Got mine at http://www.protapesigns.com/racinggraphics.asp. You probably want magnetic and they'll last several years easy.

So they won't fly off the car during high speed run in excess of 100+ mph?

Some people were using Blue painters tape at the event I went to.

I used vinyl sheets from Michaels. Printed templates using word art or text art in word. I cut the numbers out and spray the car with water. At first they looked great. Very flat. But now after exposure to heat and taking them off a dozen times, they aer wrinkled and have more bubbles. They still stick OK and for 6 bucks they're fine, but I am thinking of upgrading to magnetic.

My magnetic numbers stayed on fine last week at roughly 125 mph. Most people use a little tape on the leading edge if they have doubts about them staying on. FYI- I use the heavy gauge magnetic numbers from Solotime.

Do Solotime have only one type of magnetic number or do they have more than one grades to choose from??

I think they only sell the heavy gauge stuff, which is a lot better then the material that you find in the craft stores.

I would go with the magnetics in my opinion. As for options of where to buy, I would try some of your local vinyl/sign place. Sometimes they also do magnetics for the local compaines that advertise their company and logo on their own vehicle. (think of the realtors and contractors in your area) Anyway, I went this route and for ~$40 I got a set of nice magnetic numbers with detachable class moniker (so I can change class without getting new numbers) They were originally ~$60 but because there were 4 of us getting numbers they decided to give us a break.

Not a bad deal at all. So it stands up to high speed at the track?

Yeah fairly well. the magnet is about 1/16-3/32" thick, and while not overly strong, does stay attached fairly well at least for me. Our Solo courses don't get us going too fast, seeing as we are limited on lot sizes up here (or rather ones that they will let us use) but I did get up to ~40 on one of the bigger courses, never had it fly off or flap at all. I am unsure of how well they will hold at highspeeds, for we have no race tracks available to the local SCCA up here, and the Runways were not available to us the past two years.
