Competitors to Zaino?

I've used Zaino since 2000 (my old Cl-S Acura) and love it. Now, I am seeing commercials on TV that seem to be a new breed of animal.

Do you think these folks have figured out and copied Zaino?

Has anyone tried any of the latest "off the shelf" new technology waxes?

I've used Zaino on 4 cars and love it. Last week I bought a few Mequire's NXT products and did one half of the hood with it. I couldn't see any difference but all the cars went through the full Zaino treatment (wash, clay bar, etc) and they're all stored indoors. I think because of the indoor storage, the Zaino finish really lasts a long time and my half and half test may not be very scientific.

There are some other websites that discuss different products (see http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthre...b=5&o=&fpart=1) and they seem to think that initially the results are the same but Zaino seems to last longer.

I found that NXT is easier (and much less expensive) to apply. If NXT really doesn't last as long I may still use it - I'll just have to apply it more often. It's an off the shelf item at some of our local stores here.

Hi Chrisbert,

Since Zaino is too expensive in Europe (double the USA price), I ordered Meguiars NXT and used it last weekend on my 8. I used the tech wax first and then gave it a coat of spray wax. It is really easy to use, no hard rubbing involved, so you can't scratch the car. I'll enclose some pictures.

I've used Zaino, I've used NXT. NXT is easier, cheaper, and, to my eye, at least as good visually. NXT was a snap on my Brilliant Black Miata, which has always been finicky. Not sure about durability.

Anybody want to buy my unused Zaino? I won't be using it any more...

Has anyone tried out the 5 star shine? I'm taking delivery of an Rx8 2004-5 next week. It uses ppte or some name like. I used to use liquid gold but I live in Canada and it's not aviable here.

I said it before and will say it again half the reason Zaino looks so good is because you have to spend half the day preping the car.
I also used NXT and find it to be the best wax I have ever used and it took me about an hour(if that) to wax the whole car. Now if I could just find a way to really clean the windows, they always look so good until you get in direct sunlight then you always see the smears.

Have any of you guys tried CrystalGuard at all? I would think that if you want to save time and energy for a great shine, this would be the product to try. One time application and easy maintenance. I never do understand why lots of people feel the need to multi-layer all the time.

NXT wax uses a very similar approach in terms of applicaiton to the CG Quick product. Isn't it applied while the car is still wet or am I thinking of another product. I saw a commercial on this...anyone know?

I have ony used the Zanio and the Zanio detail spray. But I ran out of the spray and tried something else. I got the Eagle brand detail spray, and it is great stuff.

Much better shine than the Z6 spray, of course this is over about 12 coats of Zanio. My only concern is if this stuff is cmpatible with zanio when I get ready for the next few coats.

Zaino vs NXT: I have both. Zaino looks slightly better. NXT is cheaper and a little easier .... but .... I find NXT needs to be done a LOT more than Zaino. NXT seems to wear off a lot quicker. So its kind of a toss up / personal preference. I think Zaino will look better on darker cars compared to lighter. I have silver, so that may make it more even.

Windows: a good bit of glass polish should clean them (don't use it on the back window though). Autoglym Glass Polish is one I've used with good results.

The proof is in his product not his ability to be a salesman.
