In the hunt for new wheels.

I am lookin at gettin new rims and have been searchin the net for friggin ever. I find many rims that I like but are 18x7.5...errr. I was hoping for 8.0 or 8.5. Will .5 make a huge difference in the car? Handling wise?

Yes Vivid sells them. I am also lookin at the Enkei OR52 18x8.5 but they run at +35 offset so I'm worried about rubbing. And the Axis Reverbs.

I have 18 x 7.5's and I can't tell any difference at all in the handling compared to the 8's. HOWEVER, what IS nice is now the rim edge is set back in a little so the tire actually protects the edge if I scuff a curb. If you scrub a curb with the 8 inch wide rims you'll probably gouge the rim.

Thumbs up Rims - success story

Interesting thread about rims. I wanted a set for my winter tires - cheap rims that would still look pretty on the car and stand up to the totally **** Michigan roads. It didn`t take me long to end up searching the inventory at Tire Rack...and I ended up with some 5 spoke Sport Editions at 9.0" width. Fitted stock Blizzacks for winter. Awesome rims for the cost (only a silly $185 each). What i liked about Tire Rack was the ability to pull in different rim photos onto a side view of an RX8 so you can check out (reasonably well) what they will look like.

Good hunting

Tom
