I like to know if there is any information out there with you, gentlemen do you know of upgrades or modifications to the six speed manual transmission? This is my second transmission. Again second gear sync roll is grinding in fifth gear as well. Any information would be helpful thank you Douglas Nelson.

 

Rebuild or replace it. If replacing, a manual transmission from a "Series 2" (2009-2012) would be much more durable but have very slightly different gearing.

 

The main thing is to not use GL-5 oils, they erode the brass synchros. GL-4 only. RedLine ML90, MTL, Motorcraft GL-4, that sort of thing. There are no real upgrades or modifications except correct fluid choice. They're not the strongest transmissions, but then they're not attached to a particularly abusive motor.
