Easy ESS cleaning
Easy ESS cleaning
Hi everyone, I was experiencing a lumpy idle and decided to look and see if the ESS was dirty. Sure enough, it was covered in oil gunk. I didn't want to go under that car to remove it as I recently installed a new one when I also replaced the MAF last year. I took out a can of Wd-40 contact cleaner with the straw and WOW. The fact that I have the AEM intake; i was easily able to position the can and have the straw spray perfectly on it's location. With just few sprays from different directions, it was completely clean. I went for a test ride and the lump idle was gone along with having smoother acceleration. If you haven't checked your Eccentric Shaft Position Sensor in a while; i highly recommend you do this as part of your routine maintenance.
