Track days Rx8
Track days Rx8
So what oils do you guys use when you track your 8s? I’ve got a sohn adapter in which I have royal purple performance 2c oil which I also use as premix, doing an oil change before I go to the track just debating which oil I should get.
LiquiMoly 10w40 in the engine, Lucas 2-stroke in the Sohn+ premix. Used oil tests always came back great for the last 10 years or so.
I don't know if RP makes different 2 stroke oils but last I looked theirs was TCW3, which is not really the right cert for rotaries.

I use Torco SR-5r oil.
I wouldn't. Racing Beat makes a resonated and non-resonated mid pipe that is a direct bolt in.
REN.V1 Race Pipe - very loud
REN.V2 Race Pipe - a touch louder than stock
Depending on what you need or how loud you're allowed to be at the track. An example would be Laguna Seca or Nürburgring... both of those have decibel limits.. some stricter than others. Laguna Seca would require the resonated version "REN.V2" paired with either a stock intake or their REVi intake system. The AEM intake or the Mazdaspeed intake is loud and also known to trip decibel readers.
At other tracks in order to hear my car over others, I run the AEM intake with the REN.V1 mid pipe so I can hear my RPM over others around me. Also note you won't be able to hear the subtle redline "beep" from the dash with that setup.

To add to what speed7 posted, Ive run the AEM intake with RB REN.V2 with a noname dual glasspack muffler and it was near perfect in terms of no drone but still had a clean distinct sound that wasnt overbearing. No earplugs necessary and got passed my autocross noise restrictions. For racing if you have to reduce sound and add weight somewhere, the center lowest point on the car isn't a bad place to do it.
I have tried the same setup with the RB catback and it was silent, so much so I had trouble shifting or knowing what the engine was doing. Eventually I ended up selling it to make my own HKS hipower dual exhaust. The RB muffler was also heavy as **** behind the rear wheels.

yea I was thinking of removing the cat but done a noise test at 7k rpm and it was at 81db, the track limit around uk seems to be from 95 to 105db so without a cat wouldn’t that be higher than the allowed limit. I do have an aftermarket exhaust just can’t remember which one it was will have to double check.
04-08 Intake / 09-11 Intake
Resonated Mid Pipe
04-08 Exhaust / 09-11 Exhaust
Yes their stuff is expensive.. but I've always had good luck with their products. The exhaust sounds great and I know it'll last a very long time.
Cars I've had and combos I've run in the past:
10 GT: RB Intake / Cat / RB Exhaust
10 R3: AEM Intake / Cat (also used resonated mid pipe) / RB Exhaust
09 R3: AEM Intake / Both non resonated and resonated mid pipe / RB Exhaust
The 09 is my dedicated track car. And with Laguna Seca swapping out the AEM intake and using an RB intake combined with the resonated mid pipe will keep me below the 81-83 decibel limit they have at that track. The AEM intake is very loud, louder than the exhaust and not my favorite part of my build.. I actually prefer the RB intake but don't have the 10 GT anymore. In the end for a daily and a track setup.. I'd recommend their products and simply swap in the resonated mid pipe whenever you wish to do a track day.
