Strakes on side vents

Hi all,
New member here! I've had my FD for about 7 years and I just picked up a 05 6psd GT. Excited / Nervous to learn this platform.
Question, I have seen many S1's that have the front fender vents without the plastic "strakes" on them and many without. Is this a trim specific addition?
Pic of mine for reference.

i thought so but it wasnt a trim level thing iirc. more of an accessory like cargo trunk thing or car cover

Interesting, I've been shopping for a new fender and most that I am finding do not have the strakes attached to the vent.
Luckily mine are in great shape so I'll just transfer them over to the new fender.

Oh @200.mph here ya go doubter.

the strakes attach to the fender grill not the fender, just pop the grill out and the strakes will be attached to it

The Mazda ones were polished aluminium, never seen body coloured ones before. Definitely try to move them over with the grill, the little nuts that hold the strake on are likely seized after 19 years.

i remember the mazda ones being silver looking, i had carbon fiber aftermarket ones on cf fender vents on my black 8. they were held in place by one screw and a little plastic "tit' that kept them from rotating. i might still have them in garage

If you do still have them, would you be interested in selling them? I’ve been looking for some and I’m not crazy about the polished ones on black.
