I have a 2010 GT, and am experiencing power loss in the high rpm’s. Initially, I noticed it and it seemed to have the characteristics of a clogged cat, and my OEM cat was glowing, so I replaced it with a BHR high flow cat (also new ignition system, new BHR coils, wires and plugs). I am still experiencing the same issues with the new upgrades and the cat is still glowing red. I have also reset the ECU, and cleaned the ESS (wiped it off/sprayed down with MAF cleaner).
When accelerating, it seems the car does not lose power in the high rpm’s, it just doesn’t gain any. When the car reaches rough 7.5-8k rpm’s, the rpm’s will not increase any further and seems like it is sitting still. I have not checked the SSV, VDI, or any other secondary valves to see if they are operating properly, but I assume they are since the car has the characteristics of a clogged cat.
so I thought the same. I had same characteristics with a few added ones that accumulated over my neglect. After some elbow grease it came down to the fact that my vfad is holding vacuum after engine is turned off. If I disconnect hose right at vfad solenoid air rushes in and door slams “open or closed” idk.
After putting her on jacks I noticed this
Thinking I blew a seal we traced it to under the rear driver side seat. I couldn’t get a video because at idle it had 2 streams of fuel misting above my tank and accumulating on my muffler lol. I replaced my pump, cleaned gas grime off of rear speed sensors, ***** and gigs ess all while my battery was charging to 100% upon reconnecting I hit it with the 20 stomp, electric power steering calibration, and power windows.
15 minute warm up/idle period
15 mile drive under a lighter load then usual but still giving her what she likes.
has run perfect since.
only thing I didn’t like was my passenger side window will stop halfway up. Probably messed that one up.
Edited for acknowledgement of vCard might still be holding vacuum, idk. But she’s got all here power back.
Sounds like the loss of fuel pressure was enough to choke it out at higher RPM. You're super lucky the hot exhaust did not ignite the gas that was leaking. Glad you were able to get that figured out!
