Busted coolant jacket. Water seeps into the chamber while it sits.

It's possible to need new housings/irions, if they warped. If you tuned it off quick when it started to overheating, then you may just need new coolant seals.

Just having to replace the coolant seals is much cheaper than having to replace the housings. Sucks that it happened but at least its not the worst scenario in tbis circumstance.

With the overheating chances are you cooked all your rubbers in the engine. So plan on replacing all orings. Chances are you are going to end up replacing your apex's while in there too unless you are really low mileage after your last build. As for other seals you will have to look up the engine service manual and just go down the list checking mazda's tolerances for reuse.

Once you make the list of what you need to replace, go see how that cost compares with one of the all inclusive rebuild kits atkins sells which includes your parts (do not use the atkins metal seals or solid corners)

Who did the previous rebuild? Depending on who did... You might find out used or sub-par/out of spec components were used and not usable now for a future rebuild. Also the rust visible in your disassembly pictures will suggest corrosion damage to a lot of components from it sitting.

Genuinely, i don't recommend using your engine for a rebuild and strongly suggest just getting a whole complete preassembled engine. You can get one from @RotaryResurrection for a quality rebuild at a very reasonable price.
