PA Rx8 Lapping & ReNitriding for Irons

Hello all,

I am looking to see if anyone here is familiar with/can recommend a shop for 13b iron lapping and renitriding? I see Racing Beat has a lapping service but would be unsure mainly where I could get the irons renitrided afterwards, and also am hoping a shop can do both at once to negate extra shipping costs.

The only shop I can find online is Chips Motorsports out of Detroit, they do the full service for $820, they seem to have good reviews quality wise, but a lot of people are saying it takes up to a year for certain services/parts when it was expected to only be 4-6 weeks, which is quite longer than I would like.

I am located in PA, close to Philadelphia, but am willing to ship as needed.

Thanks for any assistance!

if they have significant mileage then it’s better to buy new replacements, especially the center iron.

They can be ordered shipped direct from Japan for less than you can buy them in the USA

it’s still pricy, but it’s the best option for the money.

the same applies to rotors and rotor housings, probably looking at ~$4k for all those new from Japan (plates, rotors, and housings).

still better than what they charge for a new engine keg that comes with bad seal clearances.
